Splinter Bottom

Splinter Bottom is a musical play I wrote for ages 3-7, as part of my time training on the children’s theatre writing scheme, First Words, which was run by Tutti Frutti Theatre Company in association with Sheffield Theatres, Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse and Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester.

Splinter Bottom tells the story of shy Sadie, who gets a splinter in her bottom at school, while sliding around having fun with her best friend in assembly. Sadie doesn’t normally speak up in class, but – if Sadie wants to help herself – she will have to find a way to let her teacher know she’s really suffering.

Fun and energetic with an underlying message about finding your voice, Splinter Bottom has a 25 minute run time and is written for three actor-musicians to perform pretty much anywhere!
