I’m a director, writer, producer, facilitator, coach, mentor and speaker. I am also part of the Freelance Associate Network at digital arts platform and organisation, The Space.




DIRECTING
I work with actors, singers, MCs, presenters, experts and contributors in fictional and factual content. I’ve directed content and productions in opera, theatre, music, live events, training, documentary, entertainment, scripted, digital and audio. Most recently, I was Guest Artistic Director at Leeds Opera Festival.

I also trained and worked as an actor, earlier in my career and completed the Regional Theatre Young Directors’ Scheme Assistant Director training and worked as an Assistant Director with Dark Horse Theatre.
WRITING
I am a multi award-winning and nominated writer across multiple platforms and artforms. I have written two novels, one musical, a mini opera, several plays, scripts, audio content, podcast and factual scripts, entertainment, health, education and public information content. I am also a skilled and experienced editor of content and historical texts for performance.

PRODUCING
I have worked for many leading arts and media organisations as a producer, as well as working with and for small theatre companies, sole trader lead artists and self-starting my own creative projects. I have produced across theatre, digital, video, broadcast, social media, audio, interactive, gaming, community and opera training and engagement. I run productions and projects from conception and pitching, through all stages of the production cycle to delivery, compliance and evaluation.

I lead workshops, give talks and provide mentoring and coaching through Emma Hill Writes. I’ve also been a facilitator, speaker, coach and mentor for BBC Writersroom, YMCA, Creative Future, Raise the Youth, Right Up Our Street, Royal Exchange Theatre, Dark Horse Theatre, Lawrence Batley Theatre, Freedom Studios, Yorkshire Festival and New Writing North.
