I am trained and experienced in coaching, mentoring and pace-setting styles of peer-to-peer collaboration and leadership.
Most recently, I worked with young writer, Jess de Beer, who I mentored through New Writing North, as part of Jess’ Matthew Hale Award win. Jess was in the process of recovering from difficult experiences in education settings and was on a path of learning to believe in herself.
“Mentoring with Emma Hill was an excellent decision… and has helped me find a belief in myself that has only recently appeared.”
JESS DE BEER, MENTEE, MATTHEW HALE AWARD
“What an amazing event and what a fantastic speaker!”
EXCELSIOR ACADEMY, NEWCASTLE
I also regularly present talks on my work, or the work I produce for others. I can present to children, young people, the general public and my industry peers. My talks are informative, entertaining and unique to who I am, as a person and storyteller.
“Really engaging and enjoyable, feeling very inspired to develop my writing!”
TALK AND WORKSHOP ATTENDEE
Through my work at the BBC, I have training in Coaching Skills for Leaders, Honest Conversations and other interpersonal skills training. My background as an actor gives me an excellent grounding in listening to others, communicating clearly and presenting confidently.
I have a good track record of working with colleagues who would like to develop their career or creative skills. I offer support, encouragement and feedback into making that possible.
I have good emotional intelligence, which means I put others at ease and understand the variety of pressures on people. I am someone who gets things done and I can offer examples from my own life, of how I have made that possible. I can also simply listen to the obstacles someone is facing and ask questions that encourage people to think around and outside a problem, which they then solve themselves.
“You were a tour de force!”
